Bio hydraulic oil ??

Got on to thinking after the escapade the other day with the hydraulic pump blowing it’s back out again that maybe on an average year the crane is dropping and dripping probs about 15 litres of oil straight in to the floor , not good especially if it’s in concentrated areas where we are processing timber or that a lot of our sites are near water courses.

Would like to know folks opinions if they are running or have ran it in there machines ,Especially if they have had problems!

Back in the day I am sure a few commercial mower manufacturers had issues with bio oil in their machines.

It does come as standard in some golf course machinery now. Most customers / operators like it until they have a price to replace it then chuck standard back in. From memory 20L of biodegradable oil can be £150-£200. V expensive to fill a big system!

We always had to pit it in chippers sold to the EA.It was massively expensive and didnt last long. If it degraded, it could ruin every component! We had decals made up to point out that the stuff was in there as the two do not mix. An EA Fitter said that at the first yearly service, it was replaced with ordinary hydraulic and the decal removed!
