Ec 15-23./26 hydraulic oil from breather?

Got hyd oil steady flow out the breather argo filter and dip stick ( when removed). Not a mega flow but more than a drip. Probably a litre per half hour going into a bucket.

 

Chipper appears to working normally apart from that. Had breather off and cleaned it

 

What is causing this?

Assuming thats the bigger filter under the big red cap, it appears clean as a whistle

That’s it. Possibly struggling to allow the oil to filter back through to the tank. 500 hour change interval from memory. 

Has it been fine and literally just started leaking oil?

It leaked last summer, i tightened the nuts that hold the filter housing on and all was good until now. I havent noticed a significant leak until today, but i suppose it could have been weeping a bit and i didnt notice. Will get a new filter ordered.

If you don’t know of one being replaced on it. Probably worth replacing it anyway.

No not since last summer, it is behaving like its over full though, was working on a slight tilt ( filter housing lower) but nothing ridiculous or unusual.

Took it all the way to garage, and it wouldnt leak there. Went back to job and ofcourse was leaking like a gooden.

Hi Bill , sorry only just noticed this.

I would firstly do as others have suggested and fit a new return filter although if the tank is up to the max mark and you're working on an incline like you say , they were prone to weeping from the breather.

Mac , when he was G.M. Service Manager came up with a mod to raise the height of the breather .

If you're still struggling after the filter change I'll see if we still have the bits to make up the mod..

Afraid it's still leaking whenever working on a slight incline. Be great if you could have a look for parts for breather mod. Filter change made no difference by the way.
