Been working with a workmate on and off for 6 yrs or so .but today I almost lost it big time and fell out . intrested to hear how others in the same situation would feel

I was suppose to be helping him on a job today and arrangement was pickup at 9

called me at 8.20 saying 5 minutes away and I said not ready I will meet you at the job site at 9

as it turns out he told me completely the wrong area / road and sent me on a wild goose chase for nearly an hour

after several callls later still wasn’t much help and didn’t make it obvious where he was .

when I finally arrived at gone 10 he wasn’t apologetic as expected but rude and patronising.

stayed for the day but still pissed off and thinking don’t bother again with such people even if they are old mates

I said I will finish the job tmr but totally gone off working with him

rant over

I still challenge anyone to beat my story of a guy who disappeared into a wood for a shit, then came back an hour later gouging out on smack.

Not as bad but....
I used to do trees for a gardener who employed two brothers.
They were both about 20/21 good hardworking lads from a really bad home.
Until they got in to smoking "spice".
They had a proper punch up in the middle of a clients patio, blood everywhere.
Never saw them again.

My first job in this business was with a 55 year old “Norn Irishman” full bore alcoholic.

Every so often he’d say “just popping over to the shop to pick up some fags/butter/newspaper” an hour later he’d come back cheerful and singing from the pub.

Tbf he had been to the shop on his way back, to pick up a half bottle of Johnny Walker.

Weird to think I am 55 now.

And you work in France now [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
The first farmer I worked for was a magician. He'd have bottles of beer appear endlessly from a Barbour jacket until lunch when he started on the wine.[emoji13]
And that was a perfectly normal working environment.[emoji51]

Had a lad, 19ish, work for me one Saturday  a few years ago.

We were digging out for artificial grass, all soil being dumped at the end of the garden.

He was at the job when I arrived, good start I thought? it was only when he asked the client (fortunately a friend of mine ?) for a black coffee with 5 sugars in, I realised he was early because he'd not been home from Friday night and was still off his nut! ??

He started barrowing, after about 15 minutes we realised he hadn't come back from his last load- he'd walked to the end of the garden and kept going, all the way home presumably ???
