Oregon chainsaw bar

Just wondering if anyone can shed light on an Oregon bar delaminating after little use iv been using chainsaws for a long time and never had this happen before having said that iv never used an Oregon bar before and i have recently been carving some rustic furniture if anyone can help that would be great

Have same problem whit many Oregon bars, but all with bigger saws. Usually result of heating bar too much when cutting stumps etc

Which bar is it? I have a couple of types of Oregon bars and both have been excellent.

Was it a versa cut bar? I had one de laminate after an hours use, never had a problem with the older ones tho

It’s a 15” Oregon control cut with aluminium core on husqvarna 550 xp

I was always told that with bar problems oil holes blocked with crap and uneven rails cause over heating and that knackers them. I'm a bit obssesive with cleaning mine and keeping the rails true and straight, so never really had any probs with oregon stuff, although I don't do any fancy carving.

I have this bar on my processor. Probably done 500 tonnes of logs with it so far without problems so they dont all delaminate.

Never had a problem with Stihl or husqvarna bars my only conclusion is that the Oregon bars are more susceptible to heat damage I notice it has an aluminium core and I’m not the best with maintenance etc and possibly a bit heavy handed with awkward cuts lol

Yep the aluminium would expand at a different rate to the steel outer if it was getting too hot so making delamination more likely but it shouldn't be getting hot in the first place.

 

Get good at sharpening and learn how to maintain the bar (lots of threads on here). This will make your life way easier with fast and easy cutting. No need for heavy handed use ?
