Don’t get too excited about it- you need to put down £10k just to register as a bidder- plus various other stipulations, there something like 15million quids with of plant on auction- I think a lot  of it will be exported.

Your registered to bid? How much did you have to put down?

Yome right Matthew!  Just called them.  They will debit £10k to your credit card on the day you register and you can either have it back after (less any purchases) or have it transferred to their next auction.

It was a bit tricky trying to get a straight answer from chummy, but that's what he confirmed.

I said:

"...you're telling me, that I have to give you £10k just to be able to bid on something that may (or may not) make £300..?"

"...Yep..." he said.

"...Good luck with that I said...."

I suppose it sorts the wheat from the chaff, I wouldn't be getting involved with it mind.

Fancied a couple of packs of these but I'm wary of putting £10k on the plastic for something that might come in handy one day...  I s'pose you could register the day before and leave it hang on the credit card for a month so long as they don't drag their feet reimbursing it.
