Price of a log or logs

Can enyone tell me what would I be expected to pay for logs or a log for milling

As i am thinking of buying  a sawmill . Maximum diameter  30in lets say about 12ft long.

Piece of string answer.
Hard or softwoods?
Forest grown?
Artic load or trailer?
Graded?
Delivered?
As a vague rule £100 a ton is a fair price for most hardwoods collected.
Less for softwoods.
Valuable species can go for a lot lot more.

Here's some examples of milling logs I've bought recently.
Beech 20-30" x 8' £65 a ton collected from the forest.
Sycamore 3'x 8' superb character £100 collected from field.
Elm 4' x 9' delivered £300
Oak 2-3' x 8' collected from forest £100 a ton.
Sitka 2 ton for £120 delivered.
Prices will vary quite a bit depending who you know,
How far away?
What's the accesss?
Can you collect big heavy logs?
A 30" oak log at 12' weighs about 2.5+ tons.
And turning big logs on a mill is very difficult.

Quite  expensive  you wouldn't get much then .

Depending on size two or three logs . I do have permission in some woods but only trees that have fallen  through bad whether.  I'm  in Doncaster area were would i start to look. Thanks for your info

Thanks for the offer rough hewn. Looking to move to another property so things are abit difficult just  now

What Mill do you have your eye on?

 

Picked up over 7 tons of Oak today. All supposedly Firewood Grade. £30 a ton and I got to load with the Avant for free.
