Though the keeper looked a little bemused to see us back in there "after hours" :sneaky2:

 

I guess wearing a bright white top didn't really help with the stealth tree baggin :001_tt2:

beech Pollards- the next generation.

 

Heres one I worked last year, its a lovely tree, maybe not your cup of tea, but for me, this is art, and this is one of my favourite trees on our rounds.:001_cool:

 

You can cleary see the "origional" top cut has been long occluded, and at least three cycles of re pollarding. This is a perfectly respectable method of managment, and as suited to the urban garden as the SSSI site or SAC :thumbup1:

The house has been in this families ownership for a few generations, the current guy used to play there as a child so its history could easily be put down on paper, next time it will be done. made a few suggestions to increasing its care, a mulch layer etc, lets see next time round what we can "introduce"
