I've been looking at the rock machinery mini crane.

Thinking about mounting one on the transit tipper so I can pick up bigger logs for milling.

Anyone used/got one or something similar?

Would I need a support leg?

Any thoughts appreciated

Thanks

I’d weigh up the weight of the crane against what the actual legal carrying weight is of your transit, then subtract it to see what payload you have left. I think you’ll use a fair bit of it up which could limit you a lot on what you could carry & tow.

They don't weigh much, and you can remove the crane from the base when you're not needing it to get mroe payload. I'd be surprised if they weigh more than 80kg- have one here which I never got round to fitting.

Depending upon what you're lifting you may get away with no support leg, however you'll want to be compentant at fitting it and strengthening the body if required. They won't like being bolted through a sheet of ply on an ally body for example.

I've got a fabricator/welder coming to have a look.
It will need a solid base plate, not sure where.
I've got a tipper and the ideal place is up front by the bulkhead. so I can pick up from one side or move it across to the other.
Pretty sure it'll need support legs.

I would check out if 1000lbs I'll be up to it. I regularly feel like I am maxing out my 9500lb winch on the pickup moving bits around. Potentially better off getting a swivel crane with chainhoist

It's for small interesting logs,
The transit payload will be about 1 ton.
