Rare rim sprocket

Morning all,

 

I'm looking for a 3/8picco Stihl rim sprocket. Part number 0000 642 1241

 

It's the 8t version and no one seems to stock them anymore.

 

Does anyone have one gathering dust on their bench?

Part number was 0000 642 1241 but it's discontinued by Stihl. Best of luck with your search. Nobody even the Americans can't find them.

I get 00006421241 as 7t rim sprocket kit, and part number 11210071041 as 8t rim sprocket only?
Listed for MS260 is that right? Do Oregon not do one?

@sfl There is an old post on here involving RobD at chainsaw bars, a previous user (Pinkfoot) wanted to run 8t 3/8 picco, the same scenario as you’ve posted above, Rob managed to find something. The old post was from 2014 so a while ago, but Rob may remember and be able to help ya, worth a PM or a call.

I thought I was a long shot but worth a try. I'll ask Rob as well.

 

From what I've read and seen, my 260 should cut faster with the 3/8picco chain than the .325 even with a 7t rim. The 8t would be a bonus though.

Whether it cuts faster or not with 8 tooth will be dependant on a multitude of factors. Most important will be if you've got enough torque from the engine for the bar length you are using. A 260 with 8 tooth 3/8 maybe ok on 12 - 14 inch bar in soft wood, don't expect it to cope well with longer bar or hard wood. 

 

Also I'll state the blinkin obvious,  you will need to change chain, sprocket and bar with a pitch change (nose sprocket in bar is pitch dependant).
