What sawbench???

As title suggests what sawbench does everyone use ? I currently use the modern major sawbench but only capable of cutting up to 11 inch. Anyone use the Balfor sawbench that does up to 12 inch?

hi for me its a old mcconell cuts up to 12" can log and plank with it, take it in to the wood and work in there with it, twin cylender petter diesel on it about 12hp, according to engine number the engine was manufactured in april 1953 and i would be very sure to say its the original engine, starts first swing in any weather and i cant make it use a gallon of diesel in a day, works well for me but i dont think it would pass any HSE inspection tho,

Wow 1953 , I wasn’t born til 1990. 

Ive just changed the way I do my logs so I need to ring everything now. Balfor do a 13 inch cut one which they reckon is the biggest on the market.

Use a petrol Balfour saw bench, very pleased with it. Gets a bit tight on green softwood, but flies through most hinges sub 250mm

I've got the Balfor SC700 PTO powered that can cut up to 12". I've cut a lot of wood with it and it's been brilliant. I saw on facebook they've recently brought a whole new range of saw benches out.

 

They do some that cut larger diameters now but to be honest it can be hard enough work lifting a 12" diameter log on so I wouldn't want a larger cutting diameter than I've got at the moment.

I was in Spectrum plant last week and the new models are a fair size compared to my older Model Balfor.

Good quality kit but they are much dearer than your eBay rubbish knocking about .sorry if I offended anyone who's got one that rattles itself to bits.
