Ive been keeping my eye on this mature beech on my road, I first noticed the fruiting body 3 months ago. I have alerted the people who live in the large building, (split up into flats) but the tree is still up!

1st 3 Pics from 3 months ago, next 3 yesterday. The purple growth on the main stem I have never seen. What is it?

This tree is scr3w3d and is just waiting for some winds to knock it over! (I have given my number to them, so when it falls on the house, I can go clear it up, haha!)

Cheers MonkeyD, how long would you say this tree will stand?

Also, on a tree such as this, would it be safe to climb and rig it down in its state? It could just fall over at any time right?

Well could stand for a long time yet, but I would have no worries about climbing it, rigging it down etc.

Any one who climbs a tree in this condition let alone rigs on it without giging serouse consideration to the condition of the roots does not like their life let alone those arround them.

that my opinion, MG is a seriouse decay fungi that destrys all parts of the woody tissie in the roots cel/lig/pec.

so you may get away with climbing and rigging, butthat is what you are doing is getting away with it, NOT planning and taking resnoble procustions.

thats my opinion

take it or leve it
