MS 231 16 “ bar questions

Have you checked if the oil hole & bar groove are clean of wood crap also the oil hole s lining up with the oil slot run the saw set up & then take the chain off & see if oil flows a long the bar grove OK try flipping the bar make sure the nose sprocket less chain spins free & doesn't have a tight spot

Had another check over, pump works fine and none of the bar is holes are blocked. 

Thr nose sprocket is free but there is a lot of play from side to side. Much more than I’ve noticed before. The top and bottom of the bar seem have a lip on the edge of them aswell

You are supposed to periodically " dress " the bar . That is file the burrs off , or the lip as you put it , and turn the bar over to even out the ware . Eventually the drivers on the chain will bottom out in the groove and you will be able to rock them from side to side . The bar is then worn out .
