Hey all, just as title thread suggests, been pondering on signing up to the national trust membership. Can anyone give any for and against points on the matter? we enjoy looking round everything old and also are interested in the grounds and scenery that comes with it all. Any views would be great.

Mum and Dad got me life membership for my first birthday. Dad used to pose as me, mum his free guest and kids went free anyway. Saved a fortune at Ickworth House. Besides that, I’ve made it back in car parking alone many times over.
There are ideological issues to wrangle with concerning their use of land. A lot of people in the Lakes hate them.

.... and you can overnight in their car parks. Not officially, but it's never questioned. Don't ask, just pull onto the car park, never been moved on.

While you mention it eggs emoji6.png..... and not to stray too far from original post, did you get sorted with a base vehicle for a camper?

I got an 811 already converted. I'll stick up some more pictures on the other thread later this week.

This is it.

Do you get free parking at all national trust (carrying the proper logo) sites and car parks? They can be bloody expensive some of em emoji33.png?

Yep. You have to pay to for some stately homes but the parking and parkland is always free. Ickworth a perfect example. Park the car, sit under a tree, look at the deer; free. Walk round the house; money.

Don't know costs but Iooked it up years ago and concluded it was the best investment mum ever made.

I'm a regular user. The attendants know the score.
