You need it for when you get out of the basket into the tree :001_smile:

Know that feeling well Dean....I'm always muttering (as I'm climbing out) 'wish i'd bought the 23m one instead of the ------- 15m'.

I had fourteen stiches in my hands and fingers from slips whilst using silky over the years !!

Ouch! I’ve had a few nicks from them but only ever needed butterflies. I use Silkys’ often and you’d be amazed at the rate of work when holding with the left and cutting with the right.

Hold – Cut – Turn – Throw.

I’d much rather have a few stitches than risk lopping my hand off (which would be difficult to do in a MEWP granted).

Think you do need 39, Step cut it, and or tie piece to another section with a short strop, cut, chainbrake, and lift the piece by the strop.handhold with the csaw is faster but eek!

Cutting and holding from a mewp can be quite dodgey in that you are suddenly loading etra weight on. Bigger limbs I do what geoff said, let anther limb take the weight then gradually lift by hand and chuck

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
