cool. yea im sure he'll be fine, post dug a pole into the lawn yest. for him to practise his knots. still guess its good he's doing the new 38, training with the times. i heard in the 30 31 you know have to use a pull rope and set up the winch?

yer there is winching involved in the 30/31 now.... theres also a knowledge section in the 38,involves first aid(spinal injuries etc) and a ident bit which i think is ten broadleaf trees

As far as im aware spikes arent part of loler because there counted as climbing aids(sure someone can clarify that?) .

 

I've always had my spikes LOLER'd. A lockjack is a climbing Aid and that has to be checked. I'm sure Bob will reveal all but I would always err on the side caution and get them done!!!

Never had my spikes LOLER'd. There not used for lifting or lowering so no need to have them checked IMO.

Although if they were falling to bits id probably think twice before using them!! haha

I just put em in a big pile with all the rest to be looked at and job done!!! Never thought twice about it really!!

Do you have your winches checked bud? Ive spoke to a few people who say they should be but our inspector says they dont need it:confused1:

:confused1:Never have. Didn't know I was supposed to TBH. Would someone in the know care to enlighten us? I wouldn't have thought they would need to as you aren't lifting.

winches should be checked if used for lifting under loler

winches should be checked if used for anything under PUWER and the easiest way is to inspect under loler

i am a loler guy and inspected spikes if presented

just done an update and they should be inspected really more under PPE regs and obviously if they are really bad and did collapse or were not sharp enough they could result in a slip or drop ect

but not a mega strict check

but only makes sense really:thumbup:
