Stock vs ported saws

Interested to see what difference between the two is. So if you've got a stock or ported, post a video of what it'll do.

This is wonkydonkey's

660 big bore 100cc ported, running about 14.5k rpm no load,

over 11k in the wood.

same bar and chain and log.

I have a ported 660 that spud worked some magic on when he rebuilt it.

 

unfortunately I don't have a standard 660 to compare it with.

 

it does cut great though.

The only real comparison is to cut the same wood with the same bar and chain with the same person using the same saw before and after porting.

All these factors make a difference as you can port a new saw with good as new compression or one that has seen better days plus all the factors i mention earlier can make a difference.

Nice idea though and always interesting to see what people are running and who has done the work etc.

I have had 9 saws ported by Spud, all of them cut much better than they did before. The differences before and after vary, but they were all noticeably better. And by noticeably I mean well worth getting the porting done. The best results seem to come from the husky’s, the 254 being the most noticeable improvement, but the ported 357’s are awesome, they beat a 560 in performance and are lovely to use. I just got a 346 ported too, that’s a great little thing...

 I've got a ported 357 and 660, and they're way ahead of the other saws I see working for one firm or another. 

 

I keep them properly sharp, and they just work with you.
