Insurance implications for loler inspectors?

I'm interested in becoming a Loler inspector for arb equipment.

Before I undertake this i would like to know what insurance is required for inspectors and typical costs?

Is the insurance part of a general arb/business insurance or separate policy?

Obviously equipment can deteriorate significantly between inspections. Does anybody know of any claims made against an inspector when an inspected piece of equipment has failed and the implications?

Surely they explain your liability to the customer and requirements on the LOLER inspectors NPTC course?

Professional Indemnity cover is a must. Having said that, I’ve never heard of a LOLER guy being sued. At the end of the day we only inspect kit for, dates, condition and damage and set SWL’s for individual rigging equipment pieces. We don’t offer guarantees that equipment is not going to fail.
Professional indemnity covers us for any potential mistakes we make during the course of our work.

Thanks, I would assume that a course would cover this but i contacted a provider and they had no detail. Timon, do you have any idea of the rough cost of the insurance?

My insurance rate is dependent on turnover. I would just phone an insurance provider and get a quote to see if it is viable for you.
