No more than 5 CUM in any calendar quarter . Also you can't sell more than 2 CUM in any calendar quarter .   There are exemptions . Best to google it .

If it was not for the forestry act and the forestry commission putting rules and regulations in place there would be no trees left, a felling licence does not cost only the price of a stamp.

They will carry on planting and carry on getting felling licences.

 

The 5 cubic mtrs is only the limit if you don't apply for the licence.

Grants available for planting , fencing , gates then a ten year maintenance payment a lot of new woodland being created in the northwest at present.

So assuming for arguments sake 1 tree = a cube, you can fell 5 trees but only sell 2. What happens to the other 3? Hardly a profitable investment for an average farmer, ok he could get a license then he can’t cut them himself it’s all too much red tape
