Had a problem with Ford 7600 charging, volt metre would only read 12.2 volts so fitted new alternator with no change. Checked all wiring and not found any problems.

This tractor has an alternator with battery sencor wire.

It's driving me mad.

The battery sensor checks the battery temperature and stops it boiling dry by cutting the feed to the alternator field coils in the rotor. Bypass this and see if it starts giving about 14V.
