Conifer planting rates

Hi All.  Got some work planting conifers.  It's a restock site.  Quite steep ground, all brash raked.  How many trees can I expect to plant in a day??

Depends on how fit you are, and have you planted before.

Pretty fit.  Planted a little bit, but it was on a day rate, and can't remember how many we did.  Plantted lots of broadleaf in tubes.

Piece work is a lot different to day rate. On good sites I could get in 2000 a day, more on really easy sites. On the other hand I could be down to a couple of hundred where it was difficult.

 

If it paid I'd bust my bottom off. If it didn't...

We're getting 15 p per tree.  Does that sound ok?

15p a tree is not bad just get your bag loaded head down and keep going 1500 - 2000 a day and your making good money . A few years ago there was a program on TV called worlds toughest jobs one guy was 5000 trees a day for 12 wks then had 40 wks holiday.

Most I’ve ever been paid is 12p a tree on mounds. Most I have ever got in was 2000 a day but found 1500 was achievable every day.

I know folk offering to pay 7p a tree (but heard of it even lower) and another was upping it to 10p for a site he called K2 it was that steep.
