tried one more on the edelrid pieces but i had to stop, just couldn't pull the fid through or the core...

 

ended up cutting the whole bloody mess out . :blushing: just been whipping them but got a large hawthorn in my thumb knuckle yesterday. so giving it a bit of a rest.

 

plus i need one of them palm jobbies.

Sail makers palm there called mate.

 

Its amazing what your fid can get caught on. If you catch just a couple of strands it'll stop your fid dead!!

 

Splicing with a thorne in your hand!! Now thats commitment:001_tongue:

Im very keen to have a go at this after reading all of these posts. Got a 6m length of xtc16 spearmint that I plan to try and put a splice in? So piano wire fid? ....but how long should I make it?

Also have an xtx12 hollowbraid. Would this splice be right?

Ive still not climbed on my poison ivy yet:sneaky2:.

 

Gonna order some supplies off nod next week,really like the look of those ceramic knives:biggrin:. I was that busy on the show i didn't even get chance to waste my own money!! haha
