In the 1st pic its the one closest to the corner of my workshop.

i am not at home so i cant take more pics right now

 

hope this helps identify the tree. I am sure it had a TPO on this . Also my Neighbour has 3 or 4 similar trees with TPO,s that he said were Oaks too. I will leave the identification to the experts.

do you mean i got it right???

 

it's a timber i love and was suspecting that the wish may have been the father of the thought as i've never seen a mature specimen and was not sure if i had identified it correctly?

i cut a small 5 inch log so you can see the cross section , then i cut a 12inch log lengthways  too. I hope this helps.
