I have a 254XP I use for cutting fallen trees for my wood burning stove.

 

Silly Question what is the best chain for me please? the chain that was in the machine when I bought it wore out and I have been buying Sharp chains but they seem to dull to quickly

I dont mean to sound daft but are you using the saw "properly" and not trying to plant potatos with it? lol and are your sharpening them? or just buying new chains once they are blunt?

Ask for a chipper chain.

 

They dont cut as fast as a semi/chisel full chisel but will last longer.

 

Actually you may find it difficut to get a chipper chain I think all the ones I've seen lately are semi.

 

Oh and before anyone else says it, keep the saw out of the dirt

Thank you for the replies, sorry if I gave the wrong impression I do keep it out of soil ect and do have them sharpened But like I said the orginal chain lasted quite a while between sharpening, unfortunately I do not remember the make, it came with the saw

If it came with the saw then it will be oregon i think.

 

I may be wrong but i dont think husky make there own chain like stihl do.

Just a question you said you were buying sharp chain,you didnt mean sarp chain did you,cause that sarp chain does go off quick i would recomend oregon chain on a huskey,we however run 346 s and 357s,and were using stihl chains supplied by brandon tool hire.

if you are paying to have the chains sharpened most of the places that sharpen chains round this way never take the rakers down , dont know if this is the problem
