PTO stump grinder

Hi, I've been looking at a woodland mills PTO stump grinder and apart from the increased compaction caused by movin the tractor back n forth it seems like a simple and robust tool that would be good for the ride widening and site clearance jobs we do. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with on or any thoughts on its disadvantages/merits.

Only good for 20-50hp and unless you have a hydrostatic drive tractor in that hp range you will knacker your clutch quit quickly or have a rather sore left knee very quickly, wouldn't fancy trying to take on a big stump with it as you'd be limited by having to reverse almost onto it with 1 wheel and getting a big build up of grindings on the same side.

Good points mr git, thank you, it's simplicity appealed but I think I'll continue searching then. Any thoughts on a suitable brand?

Not too many people make pto grinders especially for the UK, best I've seen is arbworx FAE machine but I think you'll be talking 15k for 1 like that!

As has been stated, really rare in the UK and Europe. I'd also expect the manoeuvrability to be an issue. The main market has to be the US where there is an abundance of 'compact' tractors (there compact seems to be a 50-90hp though). I spent quite a bit of time in the US and outside the main cities everyone had a few acres and a tractor of sorts.

That's a shame, I was lookin for a cheap(ish) option as access isn't generally an issue. 15k is way out of my budget!

Rock machinery sell a pto stump grinder now. It has hydraulic slew and is relatively cheap. Not sure how good it is
