Equipment for a beginners?

Hi everyone, i have just started a course at Capel Manor College and i am just wondering what sort of climbing kit i should buy?

Any idea's on harnesses, rope or anything you've got i mind?

George we supply a lot of students at Capel with their gear, if you pop down to our shop I'll spend an hour or so with you making sure you get a good chance to hang in all the harnesses, and take you through all the gear.

Oh and my prices are good as well.

decent helmet with chin strap ....try as many harnesses and ropes as possible before buying only you can decide whats right for you!

try before you buy, you need to get a good bit of dangling in to make sure yor family jewels are comfy:blushing:

Hi George, and welcome!

 

Firstly, why are you thinking of buying your own gear as you've just started a course? Is it a requirement? (incidentally, how lucky is that, you in Waltham Cross and college just down the road!)

 

As has been said before, each climber has his/her own style (or at least develops one) and therefore kit is a very personal choice.

 

If you are in no rush, go to Arb fairs and try different harnesses/ropes/spangly bits of ali and see what suits you.

i tried all the harnesses at college before i brought mine im glad i did because i didnt get on with some. ive been climbing in a tree magic for a year now and no complaints so far but everyone is different!
