Copper Beech losing leaves.

Question

Hi all, just come across this very informative forum when trying to find some info on copper beech trees. Was hoping some of you kind folk might be able to help. We have a copper beech in a house we moved into 2 years ago. The last 2 springs the tree has not come fully into leaf, but only on one side. I think we may have unknowingly pulled out some of the fine roots when gardening. Then had a fence fitted where some cowboys have probably chopped through a root or two.

Hi Tom,

It could well be some kind of root damage - is the poor foliage on the same side of the tree as where you suspect some roots may have been damaged?  As Mick says, some photos would help if you can post some up.

There are some options to improve the soil environment and stimulate new root development that may help...
