Could anyone please tell me if there is a year of manufacture on these Chainsaws please.

 

I have googled/ You Tubed it but it is quite vague.

 

I now have the saw in bits looking for it.

Just above the chaincatcher on mine. The year is beginning of the serial number so mines a 2014

Hmm. Can't see any possible way it would come off on its own. Hope it's not my one that went walking one night! That one I had cursed to kickback on anyone that uses it!! :(

It is possible that the bottom end of the machine has been replaced as the earlier ones were prone to throwing chains and taking out the crankcase. The new cases will never have a serial number! The original serial is retrievable from the autotune unit! The serial plate is almost impossible to remove without damaging it. Look at the holes where the stainless rivets attach the plate. It should tell you if there has ever been locating rivets in those holes!

I agree with you 100%. I'm just starting out and I cant afford everything brand new. I will be really peeved. it cost 275. Is there any other way to identify it as I may be able to track the owner.

As Steve says get a kindly dealer to plug in to the auto tune tool this will give you the pnc and ser no. if it was done properly at point of sale there could well also be somebodys name or post code in it.
