A lot of it is about placement also.  I will often take it out before descending if its convenient to, ie on reductions when I have gone back up to my TIP to do the final cuts.

Yes I think that’s a habit I’ll start!

Its a great bit of kit though and wouldn’t be without one now.

I wanted my TIP as high as possible today (lots of fannying about and limb walking) so I had it in a V maybe that was the problem?!

Retirement on the mind @Steve Bullman or a change in direction? Tell me to mind my own if you like.

I wish I could afford to reitire lol.  Retirement from climbing at the first possible opportunity

Retiring at 30 Steve? Young, even for this industry:D  You could probably make a far better living in IT/webdesign with the knowledge and experience you've gained since starting this site.

Past my best.  I could climb for another 10 years till my body is literally falling apart, or I could stop now and hopefully still be able bodied enough to run around with my grandchildren if I’m lucky enough to have them one day

How honest are you!! Surely you could pick jobs and climb less? Past your best is still better than most?!

I’m a freelance climber, I don’t get to pick jobs!

Fair enough, hope all goes well when you decide to stop.
