rope guide and harness maintenance

hi guys, the weather up here has been rubbish and i have been sliding about greasy trees all week. i have put a ll my krabs and hitches in the sink and given them a good scrub with warm soapy water and i plan on giving them a good squirt of wd40 to clean them out. but new to mu kit bag is a ropeguide, any tips on maintenance and also the buckles on my sequioa harness, i have given them a good clean in the sink, can i give them a squirt of wd40 aswell, oh and my clogger on my steel core strop too:001_smile:

Try to avoid wd40 and wet lubricants. Get yourself some graphite powder it works wonders! Should work on your harness buckles too.

no wd40 then, how come. i thought that was the bees knees??Whats graphite powder then, is it soluable?where can get some mate

fine fine powder,for lubing up climbing equipment ,wd40 will attract dust grit etc,it good

its basically graphite (whats in pencil lead these days) as a powder. justin does it and its like £3 a pot or something like that, so its worth having

thanks joe, how do you apply it, i cant work out how it gets in all the nooks and crannys

its like a really fine powder so just pour it on as if it were a liquid and open and close the krabs a few times to help spread it all over simples

Graphite powder is the muts. I used wd40 before but the powder works really well!

WD40 is ok but its a short term solution. Graphite works for longer. Rub some pencil lead on sand paper and make your own!!!!!!!
