Had a phone call today.

Hello, can I speak to the proprieter of Chartley Tree Services?

Yes speaking.

I am calling on behalf of my boss, Steven Walsh. He needs a quote doing for some treework in Altrincham. Please would you call him on 01273 978222 for the details?

Is he not in the office then?

No he's in but I can't put you through directly.

Where are you based? Brighton she said

I then called the above number, got through to 'The Building Services Directory' and asked for Steven Walsh. Oh he's out at the moment can I help?

Yes I said, what are you selling me, this is wasting my time. I do not appreciate people calling me to scam a return phone call.

Well Mr Wild we do NOT like being labelled scammers..Goodbye!

Just thought I'd let you all know. What a bunch of pratts.

Check out their website, as bad as YELL . COM:stupid::stupid::stupid:

I never ring customers..unless they have rung me first

If someone asks me to "ring there friend cos he wants some tree work doing" I tell them to tell them to ring me. IMO if they cant be bothered ringing, they're not the type of customer I want

Totally agree!!!!!!!

Same goes for 0800 numbers, I get people trying to sell me one, I just say "if they don't want to pay the cost of a call, they are not a customer I want!!"

I've started getting those silent calls on my mobile now as well, If the number is unknown and no one speaks for a couple of seconds after you answer just hang up quick.

I had a chat with the gut from YP a few months ago, he was saying how he could guarentee a certain number of calls a month, I had to point out that 90% of them would be cold callers trying to sell stuff.
