Phone book advertising

I've had a lot of really good jobs from yellow pages plus the thousands of crap ones!

I small ad doesnt cost that much and can easily be made back with one or two jobs. I see spending money on advertising toatl different than spending money on other things like kit, wages, maintenance etc(I know Rupe may disagree if he reads this:001_smile:)

Thats why I think that ads in parish and church magazines are such good value. Every household gets one, they can see your local and you only need one half decent job and its paid for itself.

This is why i`m asking. Its 12 parish news letters for a year or 1 phone book ad.

I'd stretch to both if you can. I'm not one for over-spending on adverts, you can get carried away and waste loads of money which you wont get back. But I do advertise in the Yellow Pages and about 5 parish/church magazines around here. It works alright for me.

I just can't stand the salespeople at Yell. All that NLP talk makes me sick, they talk to you like your stupid and word things to make you come up with the response that they want so that thye can make you think THEY are doing you a good turn.

"Salesman sounded dissapointed" That was fake dissapointment, he's a salesman that has failed to get a job anywhere other than Yell. !!

My thoughts exactly. If you're good, people recommend you. Picked up 3 jobs this week. No competition, just come and do the job. Great!!!!!!!

Sure. Guess new businesses have to start somewhere. Problem is that YP is full of new businesses that charge too little in order to get work.

So you pay a fee in order to get work by being the cheapest. Give it a go for a while though and eventually recomendations will take over.

I`m not that keen on sales people either however i have come to ignore the rubbish and sometimes you just have to deal with them to get an ad.
