hi guys I have a stihl 076av for sale did try and put it on arbtrader but it would not allow me to what would you say this is worth

Can't see from the picture but is that a Duromatic bar or sprocket nosed?

Is there a chainbrake fitted?

Is the manual oiler present and correct?

 

Main use is milling, but it's always good to be able to use them for stumping or ringing up big stuff if you have one. For this you want the chainbrake so it adds a bit to value.

 

If it's a Duromatic bar then the bar and chain add no real value over the powerhead alone.

 

If it has the oiler present and working, all's good. If it doesn't it will ask questions about whether it is rebuilt on a TS760 case or is actually an 051 (the top covers are interchangeable). Seeing the location of the fuel and oiler caps would also be handy to confirm on this, and also that the top cover hasn't been swapped with an 075.

 

These all affect the value, as for example does whether it's actually running?

all runs great m8 yep chain brake and oiler work fine bar isn a sprocket bar I have a new 36 inch oragon bar chain

never used to be sold with this machine

Agg, think stihl only do the 4' x .404 bar in duromatic, so I would say it does have a value to certain types. Nothing wrong really with the duromatic bars, they are simple and robust.

FYI - good OEM cylinders and pistons are difficult to come by and quite expensive for NOS, so if you want strong money for it, do a compression test and pull the muffler off to take pictures of the piston.
