same as huck, franks one was stihl green, dead elms can either go rock hard and white so they pretty much turn to stone or they go mossy and brittol, but usually your bottle will go before the wood does, when they are really pumped its the roots you have to watch out for, i have pushed over trees while pricing them, usually the old pollards that are just standing there

Yeah, that elm was starting to go quite solid in the stems, the tips were as brittle as icicles, but I didnt need to go near them, they just smashed up when they were being swung down, it was 99.8% safe to climb.

Went back a few days ago to clear the logs. Got some nice planks to make the wife a bench.....or two;

18 months ago I would have put this down to a case of 'arb shite', but I've seen the pics! Fair play Dave, but not for everyone!

How do you fit those planks in the log stove , they must burn fairly quick
