Your lucky BT didn't sting you for that Ed. They're about as much use as a marshmallow dildo around here. I've tried to get them out in the past to temporarily drop the lines but they just say no way - but then if you damage the line they're there within minutes armed with a £160 bill! Electric board are good as gold though - know most of the engineers from my powerline clearance days.

It would have taken no more than 45 mins to spike up cutting your way as you go. A groundie could have it all chipped onsite before you'd finished dropping the logs.
