Spruce log

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Im having a problem finding a market for about 100 ton of spruce 12 to 18" diam at shoulder height. At present its still standing (which is where it will stay until i can make firm plans). It was planted as a nurse crop for mixed hardwoods and is in desperate need of line thinning out! I would love to take it on so as in the future i can look at it with the satisfaction of knowing i played a part in improving that paticular plot of timber, unfortunately that wont pay my way. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Richard :thumbup1:

You could try CRL (coppice resources ltd) they deal with drax power station, although they mostly work with biomass crops its worth a go. Used to be based up near retford. Where is it being cut. Im based near Spilsby at the moment if you are every in need of a sub contractor.

Yep as above, pulps your only option atm; sawmills close down at the sight of anything over 12" !

Dont quote me but down here its about 32 pound a ton for cordwood,id think carefully before i started mulching.

that price sounds a hell of a lot for standing softwood? at 12"+??? would be interested but these figures wouldnt add up for what we would do the job for:confused1:
