Hi, sorry for another 'what rope' thread but I couldn't find the answer I need on any of the others.

Is the CE marked Cougar blue any good for SRT? namely with a VT/wrench combo? I've been using Kernmaster for a couple of years and its good but fancied trying something else.

I know they changed the construction of the core but both Kern and Cougar are nylon core. So who has used both and which would you recommend?

Cheers

Rob

Rich Rule has used both mate, I've only used the non-CE which is superb with a VT and RW.

Rich reckons the CE version is very bouncy, which isn't great for SRT as you can imagine.

I'd go for the non CE stuff from Nod at Treeworker.

Thanks Mark - I was thinking of getting the non CE stuff but I'll soon be working for a local authority so doubt I'd be allowed to use it.

It's fit for purpose, why not? Getting totally knackered by expending energy bouncing up and down isn't Very H&S compliant to me.

Plenty of people using GRCS's on LA contracts....

Yes it is a good combination but dont think the CE version of Cougar Blue is the same as the original.

A completely different rope, the only thing the same is the colour and the name.

That's true. Think ill clear it with the gaffer before I fork out for one though.

Just buy them on CE stuff and tell them it is CE approved, i never told you to do this though...
