Hi all, a customer has asked me to prune a 20ft monkey puzzle. He wants approx 2ft removed from the top and sides, I know it will be a nasty job to do but just wanted to know if they take well to pruning and if you have to take them back to branch unions?

Any advice welcome cheers.

I've never really pruned them as such, but I have crown lifted one and noticed new growth from the cuts. I'd have thought you could cut them anywhere? Sounds like polesaw and good A section ladder job [emoji106]

The guy wants it reduced as its started to encroach on the neighbours and public foot path. Another case of wrong tree in wrong position!

Mewp or poles for the tips. Getting up the stem through the branches to top it would be some achievement.

Pics of the job would be interesting...

Good luck! [emoji106]

Will gum your saw chains up and your chipper:thumb down: Up the price to cover a half day cleaning all the kit:001_rolleyes: Don't be too upset if you don't get the job:sneaky2:Surprised it hasn't died anyway! They are in my area.

The neighbours are wanting the height reduced as its started blocking out the light to their garden.

Yeah I've removed monkey puzzles before and am not looking forward to it to be honest.
