New rope

I have always used Yale blaze and i'm now in need of a new rope and fancied a change. Could anyone recommend another rope that's similar diameter and is good to use with a prussik or hitchclimber set up?

I have seen the yale blue tongue and know a lot of people who use it with the zigzag so was going to have a go on that. I like a softer rope if you get what i mean...

blue tongue is what im back on at the moment, its good rope, zero complaints here. I use with zigzag but used to use it with a hitch climber no problems. Its all about getting the cord/rope combo right

Cheers what friction cord do you use? I always just use what i can get my hands on which is usually Teufelberger Sirius, you know that black and green stuff..

Yeah I used to use that, also the roblon that treeworker always used to sell. Never went in for this high tech cord for £50 per meter

Like Steve says rope is pretty much rope, unless it's the ansi type which has little less bounce.

I had Yale Limelight for years and had no issue with it, similar to Blue tongue.

 

As for ford I like 9mm BeeLine personally, or cheap stuff, I climb on a ropewrnech now so the cord lasts forever, I also don't climb much these days....

ermm, I didn't say that! Theres some shocking stuff out there which I wouldn't even use to tie my girlfriend up

I never was worried about my friction cord to much if you use a prussick you tend to replace it a bit more often so always tended to buy cheaper stuff!

Anyone know anything about the yale imori or hedera? Havn't seen/heard any views on them.

Hedera is the same as blue tongue, just different colour. Imore is basically the same construction of rope except they fluffed up some of the strands to give it a thicker feel in the hand. Its ok, but I prefer the regular blue tongue

Not quite no but you did say the rope hitch combo is important.

 

It was a quick reply because I couldn't be bothered to elaborate more, but most arb specific rope from the major players is a much for muchness, not a huge fan of Yale Imori personally but most of the other Yale 11.5/7 is very alike.

 

And personally I could climb on anything... that is designed for arb work.
