Let's not argue now 😂 I'm not old but been climbing 12 years. 10 of those as a contract climber and about 5 on SRT. Put it simply, I'm faster, more productive and safer on SRT, to the point that a lot of contract work is from having SRT, phone call will go like..."it will just be faster if you do it with your shiny stuff" yes it may take and extra 10mins setting yourself up with a throw line, but from there on, easy peasy your miss's is a squeeze. If it was slower or crapper no one would do it. Now that I have strayed, back to the thread- get a wrench and a tether and pop down to a treekit SRT workshop with Ben. Only like £40.

If you study the picture and understand my explanation then the ascender coming off or failing is not a problem ..that is what the set up is about ....

Sure, but just pointing it out as it's an open forum :thumbup1:

Don't really see why not to trust it any less than a prussic/split tail to be fair though. Always good to back things up.. How far does it slide before the split tail bites?

Ben. You can use some of my 3 strand and prussec loop lovingly spliced by me. That's once I find it among the old engine bits. On the plus side it may be soaked in old engine oil which aids with presivation on bomb out desents.

Devon twig. Looks like you could do with some more wraps on your Blakes hitch if you are going to rely on it as a back up due to loading it as a single line and not double. It might hold better and may even release under pressure if needed.
