Was speaking to a bloke today about the 550xp that thinks he knows all but actually knows **** all. What exactly is the exhaust mod? He reckoned it's a 560 exhaust the retuned with the software. Is this the case? Cheers guys

560 exhaust will not fit 550. Impossible to retune any software and you can not put 560 software onto a 550 carb it's just not possible. If you wanted to mod the muffler you would need to start with the standard 550 one.

I think he's having you on.... either that or he really knows NOTHING at all about saws!

Inside is a plate with lots of little holes in like a colander. These are baffle plates. Helps quieten the saw.

A exhaust mod will remove these and usually with the widening of the exit hole too will make the exhaust less restrictive, more free flowing and louder.

Releasing a little more power from the saw.... just like de catting a sports car.

The auto tune will correct its self, lift up the deflector on the top of the muffler and drill or dremela hole next to the existing one.

And I can't speak of what gains you get from it as my 550 is still under warranty, just been reading a bit.

My 560 exhaust was cut and shut after removing the baffle plate shown in the previous post . No reason why you cant do the same on a 550 . As said the A/T will compensate . Makes mine more responsive and runs cooler . Louder though .......

He talking complete testicles.

I didn't open mine, just took it off, drilled a number of holes through the baffle from the engine side and took a dremel to the outlet to widen the hole. 15 minutes max.

As said before the saw will compensate the tune.

The 560 runs stupidly hot..... exhaust in pic above is what happens when working in rain, had a few do this.

Exhaust mod worth doing to help saw breath and run cooler!
