I fell backwards with force , the helmet hit first but at the same time it was pushed forwards.

So it ended up looking like this

A family friend who's a brain surgeon says he almost never sees a patient on the operating table who was waring a bicycle crash helmet. 95% of bicycle related casualties were not waring a helmet, he says. So important. Ware my stein, minus the visor and muffs, for everything now, even going up a step ladder.

Looks like thy lid has been "in service " for a little while anyway so changing it, perhaps considering a better colour that doesn't clash with your 'designer stubble' , would be in order me thinks.

 

Still looks bloody sore...ouch.
