Echo cs501sx siezed!

I have loads of echo kit and until now none of it has put a foot wrong. The 501sx is seven months old and is running on the same mix as everything else (50:1 with stihl hp super green variety oil). The saw just stopped having drunk a litre of the same mix at least and the other kit continues to work. The saw is in the shop as it's under warranty, the pot and piston are scored both sides.

As I refuse to blame the mix, good quality fuel, good quality oil, fresh mix same stuff as everything is running on with no upset. So what caused this? I'm guessing a small air leak?

Hope this doesn't ruin my love affair with echo as I've fallen out with husky and stihl apart from their big saws!

Could be a number of things, air leak, split fuel hose, foreign object such as bearing break up, incorrect carb setting. All will be clear to the guy who will have to repair it as long as they know what there doing. As I'm sure you know saws just don't seize for no reason and the evidence will be evident for a competent person.

I have worked on, and traded for, many Echo chainsaws where warranty was denied with same conditions you have described.

So much for their five year warranty!

I consider ANY WARRANTY to be of little value since ALL are written to protect manufacturer--not consumer!

Many ways warranty can be denied.

Thanks, you're coming up with the same answers as I did. We shall see what echo uk say and do about it.

Overheating the saw can also cause the piston to score and seize.

We have only ever had x1 echo warranty - and it was fixed no quibble under warranty.

Out of question as all of the equipment must be re-tuned by dealers. Factory setting is perfectly set for pure petrol but manufacturer mandates re-tuning in ethanol-rich-and-varying-EU.

Oh . Right . Silly me as they all must do of course :001_smile:
