Would you class this as good tree surgery

Thanks for sticking your head above the parapet Gary.

The research on lapsed pollards at Burnham Beeches is still ongoing. They have had some very interesting observations on the relative success/failure of various pruning techniques on lapsed pollards recently.

To my thinking bringing long lapsed pollards back is tantamount to topping and agree that one needs to take species, age, site conditions etc in into consideration.

I was trying to stir up a little more thought about the responses given to the OP. rather than a knee jerk reaction to a photo of a tree which we know very little about.

No one ever disputed that did they!

No, I don't think so... but it is, nonetheless, a valid and relevant point.

The landowner can do as they please (despite perceived best advice) and nobody (hopefully) is compelled to take a task they are uncomfortable with.

FWIW, I have no probs walking away from a task / customer I don't feel comfortable with.

Funny, I was sure a few of you called for them to be prosecuted for butchering their trees?

Perhaps it was just the arbs givin property owner's what they want bein persecuted?

Jomoco

No that was for so called arborists or so called tree care specialists that go hat racking trees and not working to the outlined BS standards.

I gather a few of you don't believe in a property owner's right to do whatever the heck he likes with his own trees?

Jomoco

Jomoco, sometimes, IMO, you post some really informative answers, sometimes I think you just post to troll and sometimes I think you must be drunk or on drugs:biggrin:

Hopefully, one day we'll meet and I'll finally be able to work you out:lol:
