I'm looking to turn a platter, finished size minimum 2" thick, 14" diameter.

Hopefully out of ash or maple.

Does anyone know where I could buy an oversized square/round slab or 2 that can be turned down to those sizes please?

I've got some that size, but it is buried under about 20 tons of split logs so can't get to it until maybe the spring. If you still need it by then let me know

Mark- Birmingham.

Steve- right now I'll consider anything- I'm struggling to find a slab of anything suitable at that sort of size without buying a large amount. The reason I said ash was because it has a tight grain, and is usually relatively easy to obtain. Also, the majority of the top face will be painted, so it seems a shame to paint over something with a real character to it (but I guess that's maybe just me being sentimental etc).

Will- thank you, will do.
