Apology accepted. I'm not looking to make a load of money from it, just want to see it used. And if that means not having to shift it back to my yard then all the better

Yes I understood the not wanting to shift it back to your own yard, but what I am still trying to establish is how much are milled boards likely to fetch. Will it be worth the collectors time such that they would be willing to pay you for the privilege of collecting it too? You assume you feel it is worth more than the £50 stated above. I frequently come across large lawson stems and if I could find a profitable market for it I would definitely be interested to know of it.

I'd have put money on a stupid response like that. Have you ever milled lawsons? This would make some stunning planks so please go troll another thread

A bit harsh maybe?

The reality, the harsh reality, is that you might get lucky and find someone that would take it from site FOC which gives you the cost saving of removing it. They will pick up the costs you save in their time & effort.

What would you say the time, effort labour and disposal costs TO YOU would be? Take that cost as a saving and give the timber to someone that would be willing to take it.

It's a crying shame, but the number of people willing / able to take it from you is probably so small that there's very little chance of finding one.

If it saves you time and effort, give it to someone if they are willing to take it.

There's always ebay I guess.....

Agree on the most part. At the end of the day I don't want to see that trunk logged up or put on a bonfire. So if someone wants to take it away and give me a beer then I'm happy. If it turns out someone would love to make furniture with it and would pay good money then I'm also happy. If I don't get any takers then I'll probably hire in someone with a big mill and Mill it on site. Either way...I'm happy. [emoji1]

Yes Kevin that was my thinking too. But judging by the initial response I assumed the OP knew something that I did not. I am still interested in what market there is for the stuff as mine tends to end up as firewood.

Treefolk - could you post some images of the lawsons boards you have milled? What did they get made into?

(Genuinely interested and not a troll).

All I know is they make nice boards! I know nothing about the value etc. Just hoping someone wants it. I'll post some pics up of some i have milled tomorrow if I remember. Sorry if my response to your 1st comment was a bit blunt, it just seemed a bit antagonistic and pointless

I get it fella, I feel the same, it's frustrating!

If time was no issue I'd mill more of the stuff I cut. After time to actually do it, the thing I couldn't do is put up with the hassles that go with trying to sell stuff to people. It's more trouble than it's worth.

Thanks.:thumbup1: I look forward to seeing those.

Good luck in your quest.

I honestly wasn't trying to be antagonistic, I was just surprised that you considered the timber was of a value that someone would pay to come and collect just one stem.

Your apology is accepted.
