Anybody else enjoy and un-enjoy doing DIY jobs at home?.... ya know, things like painting, decorating, tiling, plumbing, carpentrying, carpet fitting, floor laying, wiring, fixing, bodging ....and other 'ings.

Most of our DIY is work in progress over a long period of time. :001_huh:

Been like this for a while now....

Ah, well it's kinda been like this for over two years now, but yes it's on the list of jobs that need doing.

The toilet mains inlet decided to explode last week and we had a waterfall coming from the top of the stairs so that became a priority at top of the list.... unfortunately didn't have time to get any photos.

cheers, Steve

That looks like a cracking job mate, when can you come around and rewire my house?

Thanks, but I'm too very busy watching Jeremy Kyle. :thumbup1:

Today's job has been chipping vinyl paint off one of the walls....needs a splot of paint.

Our son helped (5 years young) until i chipped a chunk of flaky paint in his eye, he had a little cry and then came back insisting to let him do more.

I also feel like crying about too many DIY jobs. :banghead:

It doesn't really look that bad but it's amazing when you start to learn about a potentially dangerous topic how much you go OMG - I've done that, I'm lucky I didn't cut my arm off, electrocute myself or set fire to my house.

Our instructor described it like this

Although my use of the word lazy does not truly describe the complacency and lack of keeping abreast of developments that can come with experience and time.

My advice either get the pros in (as you'd advise for felling a tree) or take time to read up on the Building Regs. The Electrician's guide to building Regs is a good place to start. Doesn't mean you can't do it yourself but it means you will be able to get it signed off as safe!

Cool chart

I'd be somewhere in the competently lacking in time zone.
