That's pretty late.

We've not had many at all this year at Hampstead.

Good find Sean.

Nice shots :001_cool:

What was the predominant woodland around it?

Birch like in the background of first shot, or any Pine?

.

The woodland behind was predominantly birch with a scattering of other broadleaves. There were also scots pine.

Had a great day there with the Ancient tree forum. Am resizing pics etc so will share as soon as.

Unfortunately Ted wasn't around but a great day none the less.

We had a lecture and tutorials from Edward Parker (Ancient tree photographer) He gave a slide show of his work from all around the world...which was pretty special. He then took us out into the park and gave us tips on how to improve our photography. Wanderd off on my own I must admit.

The guy who put together the collins tree guide was there. A walking encyclopedia on trees....so it was great to have a walk around with him. I think his name was Owen Johnson.

Rob Mcbride aka 'The Tree Hunter'. Had a laugh with him.

And that very nice chap Bill Cathcart.....park manager. At the end of the day he took a few of us to see the Conquerers oak and King Offers oak which has been dated at 1000 years old. Wow.....what a tree. He also took us to a little secret spot to see the remains of the original conquerers oak.

Will post piccies soooooooon.

Seek and ye shall find. :001_smile:

Been keeping me eyes on the areas I've got that normally host A. muscaria, especially since you gave us the nod Sean.

Lo & behold, up they pop.

Guess the weekends little down pour has triggered a flushing.

Not as impressive as yours though :blushing:

2nd & 3rd are on an Oak root plate, not the usual Birch/Pine

So...... I get all excited when you give the nod that it's fly agaric season, then go round the usual habitat around birches looking in and about bramble patches, finally find the ones above, chuffed that I've not missed this seasons, only to come home tonight to find these popping out on next doors urbanised Cedar :confused1:

Sooo not seldom seen, fungi huh :001_rolleyes:
