Thats just the prices up here, they are on cheap side but not massively so.

I've been trying to buy a 3tonner for a while now and thought about hiring it out but really not worth it for the potential damges/breakdowns for the odd 50 quid now and again

Out of interest what are people paying for 1.5 tonners ?

I seam to be doing more and more hire with myself driving and am thinking of replacing the old JCB 8014 with something new but have been asked if I would hire it out self drive.

Micro plant in Waldingfield are £75/day for a 1.5 tonner.

In my opinion, if your buying one for your use as well as hiring it out I wouldn't bother as you know as soon as you get it back from hiring it out it'll be broke and you can't use it. We run a1.8 ton machine and I won't let any other bugger use it as its too valuable on our sites.

I wouldn't hire it out to just anyone, there's about 5 people I know I would let hire it to, how much should I charge for digger and operator (wouldn't be VAT) I've got 4 buckets, hydraulic breaker and clam shell. Including delivery to 20 mile radius. Has its own trailer and I tow with transit tipper so I can take dirt etc away but that would have to be added on top

You will not cart much Dirt away with transit tipper ... you will be back and forward like a yo-yo with clay /soil , Amazing how much soil comes from such a small dig .

20 mins to fill a skip close by with a micro digger so bear that in mind

Worked for two plant hire companies round here......

I think they worked the hire charge out by making the hire charge 1% of how much the machine would be brand new....
