Tree motion harness

Ive had the tree motion since the end of april now. i went through a transitional period where i wasnt all that happy with it, mainly because i didnt have it adjust correctly and also i had tried changing too many things in my system at the same time. im finding it really comfortable now. theres a couple things i need to tweak. ive been using the chainsaw on the rear gear loop where its intended to be hung. i understand its set like that for ergonomic reasons but i find it quite impractical and will be hanging it from the side in future.

the secondary d's come in very handy....for my own personaly style it was a case of deciding when and when not to use them.

all in all im happy with my purchase and definetly think its a move forward in harness design!

I'm loving mine. It took a while to adjust properly but worth the effort.

 

The 2nd D attachments i found awkward initially, but i'm using them more and more. I have deceloped a habit of using 2 lanyards on dismantles, especially blocking down stems, i find it easier than messing around with a lifeline, which i now just hang off the back of my harness

 

No difficulty with the rear saw attachment. I like the ability to reach either way to grab it, i still clip the saw high to my right side though when needed

So what are the improvements over the Tree Magic then Steve? And what were you climbing on before Pete?

 

I've found the Tree Magic a huge improvement over my Dragonfly, it took a while to dial in, i.e bridge length, and center off balance with the right amount of slack on the leg loops to save the boys from chafing nut pinching.

 

The basic design off the Tree Motion looks very similar, with more customisable tool loops, the second dee's, rope bridge and different desgin waistbelt being the only standout different features. But in essence the same.

 

I think having a rope bridge is the biggest difference, as it gives smoother movement, kinda like the thin strap on the D/fly B/fly 2 which is what i liked most on my D/fly.

i definelty prefer the rope bridge to the tree magic.

im hoping to get my tree magic back one day!!! i'd like to sit in it, then i'll know for sure if i really prefer the tree motion.

marc, the second d's are very useful in certain situations....and they prevent crossing over of main line with lanyard....i always had a problem of my main line releasing the lanyard positioner at certain angles.

I've finally made up my mind and ordered a TreeMotion only to discover they're on backorder. I guess they're waiting on the second production run still. I got to play with a friend's for a couple weeks, and after the first few days of constant adjustments I found a really liked the saddle a lot.

 

Pete, I like the idea of the two lanyards when blocking down, much simpler. Although that does mean you don't have a quick way to bail out if necessary.

It does have it's drawbacks, and it is not my best habit for sure

Any more experiances with the webbing fraying on this saddle? Or has that been worked out?
