Clutch spring

A friend of mine has a type of 58cc generic chinese chainsaw and has asked me to have a look at it as the spring has become detached from the clutch. I have fitted a new clutch spring at least twice to my Husky 288XP which, dare I say it is similar, but this type of outboard clutch has me stumped. Any of our kind readers have any tips for re-inserting the clutch spring on this chinese type clutch. Any help will be appreciated.

Yup, get us a photo, if it is like the typical 288/181 Husky clutch then it is a case of linking the ends of the spring together, fitting the spring to two of the clutch shoes, putting it in a bench vice and then extending the third clutch shoe, chocking it up so it is firmly in the extended position and then using mole grips and pumbers grips to extend and lever in the spring.

These can be bitches but this method works for me!

Thanks everybody, I will try to post a photo. I have bought a spare clutch on ebay from GHS. However you can also buy the spring only which leads me to believe that there is some way to fix it onto the clutch without giving yourself a hernia. The problem has so far got me beat!!!

It is like I posted earlier, if you have girly fingers then don't even bother but this is the way I do it with great success!
